Setup pre-commit skill

Setup pre-commit is part of Matt Pocock's engineering skills. Its job is to add Husky pre-commit hooks with lint-staged, Prettier, type checks and tests. It loads on its own when a request matches its description, and you can also call it by name.

When the agent reaches for it

The agent keeps every installed skill's description in view and loads the full instructions when a request matches. This is the description it reads:

Set up Husky pre-commit hooks with lint-staged (Prettier), type checking, and tests in the current repo. Use when user wants to add pre-commit hooks, set up Husky, configure lint-staged, or add commit-time formatting/typechecking/testing.

What the instructions cover

The sections of its SKILL.md, in order.

  • What This Sets Up
  • Steps
  • Notes

What ships with it

Besides SKILL.md, the folder carries these. The agent opens them only when a step in the instructions calls for one.
