When the agent reaches for it
The agent keeps every installed skill's description in view and loads the full instructions when a request matches. This is the description it reads:
When the user wants to audit, review, or diagnose SEO issues on their site. Also use when the user mentions "SEO audit," "technical SEO," "why am I not ranking," "SEO issues," "on-page SEO," "meta tags review," "SEO health check," "my traffic dropped," "lost rankings," "not showing up in Google," "site isn't ranking," "Google update hit me," "page speed," "core web vitals," "crawl errors," or "indexing issues." Use this even if the user just says something vague like "my SEO is bad" or "help with SEO" — start with an audit. For building pages at scale to target keywords, see programmatic-seo. For adding structured data, see schema. For AI search optimization, see ai-seo.
What it checks
The audit works in a fixed order. Technical SEO comes first: crawlability, indexation, speed and site structure. Then international and localization setup, then on-page elements such as titles, headings and internal links, then content quality. It ends with issues specific to the kind of site: SaaS, e-commerce, a blog.
It also warns that fetching a page's HTML cannot reliably detect structured data, because many CMS plugins inject JSON-LD with JavaScript. The agent is told to render the page or use Google's Rich Results Test before it reports that schema is missing.

Install the SEO audit skill
For Claude Code, run this in a terminal. It comes from the publisher's own instructions.
npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills --skill seo-audit -a claude-code License: MIT.
In Longwave, add Marketing Skills from the marketplace. It installs all 50 of its skills, and your Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode threads can use them.
