Writing plans skill

Writing plans is part of Superpowers, Jesse Vincent's development method. Its job is to write an implementation plan in bite-sized tasks from a spec, before touching code. It loads on its own when a request matches its description, and you can also call it by name.

When the agent reaches for it

The agent keeps every installed skill's description in view and loads the full instructions when a request matches. This is the description it reads:

Use when you have a spec or requirements for a multi-step task, before touching code

What the instructions cover

The sections of its SKILL.md, in order.

  • Overview
  • Scope Check
  • File Structure
  • Task Right-Sizing
  • Bite-Sized Task Granularity
  • Plan Document Header
  • Task Structure
  • No Placeholders
  • Self-Review
  • Execution Handoff

What ships with it

Besides SKILL.md, the folder carries these. The agent opens them only when a step in the instructions calls for one.

  • plan-document-reviewer-prompt.md 2 KB
