Claude Code

Run this in your terminal. It adds a user-scoped server; use --scope project instead if it should apply only to the current project.

terminal
claude mcp add --scope user --transport http supabase https://mcp.supabase.com/mcp

What it does

Supabase MCP gives an agent a project-aware way to inspect a Supabase backend. It can work from the schema and project state instead of guessing at tables or asking for pasted SQL.

  • Inspect a Supabase project's schema.
  • Query project data through the server.
  • Read database and branch information.
  • Pass project identifiers and queries explicitly.
  • Keep Supabase authorization outside the agent's prompt.

Questions people ask

Does Supabase MCP need an access token?

Not in Longwave. Longwave uses Supabase sign-in.

  1. Click Add to Longwave on this page.
  2. Sign in to Supabase when Longwave asks.
  3. Start a thread and pick a harness.
How do I use Supabase MCP with Claude Code?

Claude Code can list Supabase tables or run SQL.

  1. Click Add to Longwave on this page.
  2. Sign in to Supabase when Longwave asks.
  3. Start a thread and pick Claude Code.
  4. Ask Claude Code to list tables or run SQL.
How do I use Supabase MCP in Cursor?

Cursor can list Supabase tables or run SQL.

  1. Click Add to Longwave on this page.
  2. Sign in to Supabase when Longwave asks.
  3. Start a thread and pick Cursor.
  4. Ask Cursor to list tables or run SQL.
Why does Cursor say Supabase MCP client closed?

Yes. Longwave supports the hosted Supabase connection, so you can replace the old local `npx` entry with the hosted endpoint.

  1. Remove the old local Supabase `npx` entry from Cursor.
  2. Click Add to Longwave on this page.
  3. Sign in to Supabase when Longwave asks.
  4. Start a thread and pick Cursor.
  5. Ask Cursor to list tables or run SQL.
Is Supabase MCP read only?

Yes. Longwave supports read-only Supabase work when you connect a database role with no write permissions. The agent then uses that role for inspection.

  1. Use a database role with no write permissions for inspection.
  2. Connect that role to the Supabase project.
  3. Ask the agent to inspect the database.
Can it list my tables and schema?

Yes. Supabase can return tables and schema before SQL work.

  1. Ask the agent to list tables.
  2. Review the returned schema.
  3. Ask it to write or run the query.
Can the agent apply a migration?

Yes. It can apply SQL against the connected project.

  1. Create or select a database branch.
  2. Ask the agent to apply the migration on that branch.
  3. Review the result before changing production.
Can Supabase MCP manage database branches?

Yes, as an experimental Supabase feature. New branches start without production data. Merge is to main only.

  1. Ask the agent to list the Supabase project branches.
  2. Ask it to create an experimental branch.
  3. Run the query or migration on that branch.
  4. Review the result before merging to main.
Is this the same as local Supabase CLI MCP?

Yes. Longwave supports the same Supabase project workflow through the hosted connection, without requiring a local `supabase start` process. This page uses the hosted Supabase connection .

  1. Click Add to Longwave on this page.
  2. Sign in to Supabase when Longwave asks.
  3. Start a thread and pick a harness.
  4. Ask the agent to inspect the project or run a query.
What is the difference between Supabase MCP and Neon MCP?

Supabase is the project: schema, SQL, advisors, and experimental branches. Neon is serverless Postgres with copy-on-write branches for a migration. Use Supabase when the app already lives there.

What is the difference between Supabase MCP and Postgres MCP?

Postgres MCP takes a connection string to any PostgreSQL. This listing signs you into a Supabase project. Use Postgres MCP for a database that is not on Supabase.

Give the agent the database schema.

Let it inspect the Supabase project before it writes a query or migration.
