Choose a harness. These instructions connect to the hosted MCP endpoint shown on this page.

Claude Code

Run this in your terminal. It adds a user-scoped server; use --scope project instead if it should apply only to the current project.

terminal
claude mcp add --scope user --transport http linkedin https://api.longwave.run/v1/mcp/linkedin

What it does

LinkedIn MCP gives an agent a narrow connection to your LinkedIn profile and posting. It is for publishing a text post as you from a thread.

  • Read the connected member's profile.
  • Publish a text post to your feed.
  • Choose PUBLIC or CONNECTIONS visibility.
  • Keep LinkedIn sign-in in the hosted connection.

Available functions

longwave_linkedin_browse Read LinkedIn: fetch the connected member's OpenID profile (userinfo). Feed listing requires additional LinkedIn products/scopes beyond Share on LinkedIn.

accountId

action required

If I ask it to read my LinkedIn feed, what does it actually return?

Yes. Longwave can read your LinkedIn feed through Playwright in a signed-in browser. The LinkedIn MCP connection itself returns profile data, not the feed.

  1. Add Playwright to Longwave.
  2. Start a thread and pick a harness.
  3. Ask Playwright to open LinkedIn and complete sign-in.
  4. Ask the agent to read the feed and summarize the posts.
Can it publish a changelog from this thread as me?

Yes. The post goes to your member feed as text from your account.

  1. Write or paste the changelog text.
  2. Ask the agent to post it to your feed.
  3. Review the text before it publishes.
What is the difference between PUBLIC and CONNECTIONS?

PUBLIC is the default. CONNECTIONS limits the post to your network.

  1. Write the post text.
  2. Choose PUBLIC or CONNECTIONS.
  3. Ask the agent to publish the post.
Does the post show as me, or as a Longwave app?

As you. The post is on your profile. It is not published as a Longwave company page.

Can LinkedIn MCP search people or jobs?

Yes. Use Exa advanced search for public people, company, and job pages. Use Playwright for results that require your signed-in LinkedIn account.

  1. Add Exa to Longwave for public search, or add Playwright for signed-in LinkedIn search.
  2. Start a thread and pick a harness.
  3. Ask Exa to use the `people` or `company` category, or ask Playwright to search LinkedIn.
  4. Review the returned pages before using the results.
Can it post to a company page?

Yes. Use Playwright in Longwave to open a company page where your LinkedIn account has publishing permission. The LinkedIn MCP connection publishes to your personal feed.

  1. Add Playwright to Longwave.
  2. Start a thread and pick a harness.
  3. Ask Playwright to open LinkedIn and complete sign-in.
  4. Ask the agent to open the company page and draft the post.
  5. Review the post before publishing it.
Is this a LinkedIn scraper?

Yes. Use Exa for public LinkedIn pages and Playwright for pages your signed-in LinkedIn account can access. The LinkedIn MCP connection itself acts as your account instead of scraping.

  1. Add Exa for public pages or Playwright for signed-in pages.
  2. Start a thread and pick a harness.
  3. Give the agent the profile, company, or post you need.
  4. Ask it to collect the permitted public or account-accessible information.
Can it publish an image or an article?

Yes. Use Playwright in Longwave to publish an image, document, or article through the signed-in LinkedIn website. The LinkedIn MCP connection itself publishes text posts.

  1. Add Playwright to Longwave.
  2. Start a thread and pick a harness.
  3. Give the agent the image, document, or article.
  4. Ask it to draft the LinkedIn post.
  5. Review the post and publish it through the browser.

Keep the profile and the post in one workflow.

Give the agent the account context needed to draft or publish without copying it between tools.
